The aim of our work was to study the ontogeny of the cranial base and the brain in order to understand their growth dynamic and shape changes using a traditional morphometric approach in individuals with normal (non-pathological) development.Forty-seven infants having been included in the unexpected infant death french protocol were analyzed. To enable GMP-compliant TILs production for adoptive cell therapy needs, a simple automated and reproducible protocol for TILs manufacturing with the use of a closed system was developed and implemented at the authors' institution.

We report a pediatric case of fulminant hepatic failure associated with COVID-19. The present study focuses on pediatric surgical wards. We assessed the impact of undernutrition upon admission on the weight-for-height Z-score (Z-WFH) during hospitalization for surgery. Secondary aims were to investigate the influence of associated factors and to report on the use of nutritional support.
All children hospitalized for a surgical procedure between July 2015 and March 2016 were included in this monocentric, prospective study. Children were divided into two groups whether the Z-WFH upon admission was below -2 standard deviations (undernourished) or not (not undernourished).
A total of 161 of 278 eligible children were included; 27 were undernourished (17%). The change in Z-WFH during hospitalization was greater in undernourished children (0.31±0.11 vs. -0.05±0.05, P=0.005). Of undernourished children, 49% recovered a Z-WFH above -2 SD during hospitalization. There was no difference between undernourished children and not undernourished children regarding age, length of hospital stay, pre- and post-operative duration of nil per os, duration of surgical procedure, ASA score, emergency level of the surgical procedure, and enteral/parenteral nutrition.

The risks of living-related kidney transplantation remain controversial in this group of patients. Living related transplantation offers potentially better HLA matching, therefore improve the long-term graft survival. However, the concern for increased rates of recurrence of the primary glomerulonephritis in the transplanted kidney from living related donors complicates the selection of donors. With the recent dramatic rise in the use of paired kidney exchange, there is now often the option of having a living related donor donate through a paired exchange. This raises the question of whether patients with primary glomerulonephritis should receive living donor kidneys through paired kidney exchange programs to obtain the benefits of a living donor kidney transplant while also reducing the risk of recurrent glomerulonephritis. Our review of the literature suggests that although the recurrence of primary glomerulonephritis occurs more often when donation occurs from a living related donor as compared to an unrelated donor, the graft survival advantage of living related donation is generally maintained despite the recurrence. We suggest that despite the increased risk of recurrence, living related donation should not be avoided in patients with primary glomerulonephritis as the cause of their end-stage renal disease.In the context of the opioid epidemic, a limited but growing body of literature has found state medical marijuana laws (MMLs) to be associated with lower levels of opioid prescribing. However, robust evidence linking state MMLs with individual-level opioid-related outcomes is lacking, particularly among women. This finding is especially true for pregnant and parenting women, who have been disproportionately affected by the opioid crisis.
Using data drawn from the 2002-2014 National Survey on Drug Use and Heath, the study uses a difference-in-differences estimation strategy to compare opioid-related outcomes (opioid misuse initiation, opioid misuse in the past month and past year, and opioid use disorder) among all women, pregnant women, and parenting women in states with and without MMLs (before and after implementation). The study also investigates the impact of MMLs on marijuana use and marijuana use disorder.
The findings indicate that MMLs were not associated with opioid misuse, opioid misuse initiation, or opioid use disorder among all women, pregnant women, and parenting women.
